    The Sundance Institute announced its feature lineup for the upcoming 2021 Sundance Film Festival, including 72 feature films - down from the 128 that screened at the 2020 iteration of the festival, pre-pandemic. Recently, Sundance also announced that the ‘21 version would include a 7-day virtual edition via Sundance’s new streaming platform.

    The 2021 Sundance Film Festival runs January 28 to February 3.

    Debut films from Rebecca Hall, Robin Wright, and Ahmir Thompson (Questlove of the Roots) are included in the lineup, which features 38 first-time features and films from 29 countries. The official selections were made from nearly 3,500 submitted titles. Also among the titles on the list are several that were originally set to screen at the 2020 Cannes Film Festival before it was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

    Across the entire Sundance program, 50% include at least one woman director. Six films were directed by non-binary artists. Just over half were directed by people of color.
